AI Sales Agent
An AI sales agent is software built on AI models that carries out sales tasks, such as researching accounts, drafting and sending outreach, answering inbound questions and booking meetings, with some degree of autonomy.
Also called: AI sales agents, AI agent for sales
Why it matters
Sales involves many repeatable tasks that follow patterns, such as researching an account before outreach, answering common questions or following up after a form fill. AI sales agents take on those tasks so people can spend more time on conversations and decisions that need judgment. They can also respond outside working hours.
The term covers a range of tools. Some handle one step, such as research or reply handling, while others run whole outbound sequences, and an AI SDR is one common type. Results depend on the data, rules and review behind them: agents need accurate contact data, clear limits on what they may send, and people checking their work.
Example
A company sets up an AI sales agent to handle new inbound demo requests. The agent researches each company, checks it against the ideal customer profile, replies within minutes with relevant questions, books qualified leads into an account executive's calendar and hands anything unusual to a person.
