GTM Glossary

Personal Branding

Personal branding is the deliberate effort to build a professional's reputation around specific expertise and values, so the right audience knows who they are and what they stand for.

Also called: personal brand, LinkedIn personal branding

Why it matters

A founder or expert who shares useful, consistent ideas becomes a familiar name to the buyers, partners and candidates who follow them. That familiarity can make outreach warmer, shorten the time it takes to earn trust and bring in conversations that never start from a cold message.

A personal brand is built from repeated proof, not slogans. It usually rests on a clear topic, a consistent point of view, regular posts or talks that teach something, and a profile that explains who the person helps.

Example

The founder of a company selling procurement software posts twice a week on LinkedIn about lessons from running purchasing teams, with one short story and one practical takeaway in each post. Over several months, procurement leaders start commenting, a few message to ask about the product, and the sales team references the posts in outreach.

Questions people ask

How to build a strong personal brand on LinkedIn?

Pick one topic your buyers care about and post about it consistently, with real examples from your own work. Make your profile say clearly who you help and how. Reply to comments, comment thoughtfully on others' posts in your field, and judge progress by the conversations it starts, not only by likes.
