LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads

LinkedIn Thought Leader Ads are an ad format that lets a company pay to promote a post published by an individual, such as a founder or employee, so it reaches a targeted audience under that person's name.

Also called: thought leader ads

Why it matters

Thought leader ads let a company take a post that already resonates and show it to the buyers it wants to reach, while it still appears as that person's post. This joins personal branding and paid media in one placement.

The person whose post is promoted has to give permission, and the post still carries their name and profile.

Example

A founder's post about lessons from a failed product launch gets strong engagement from her own network. With her permission, the marketing team promotes the post to product leaders at 300 target accounts. Some of those leaders later accept her connection requests, and the sales team mentions the post in follow-up messages.
