Ladder rendered headless from the pricing page. October 2026 promo banner: 30% more credits on pay-as-you-go purchases until 31 Oct. Re-fetched live 2026-10-25 (plain Python, USD): PAYG ladder and Deliverability Kit prices unchanged; in-app purchase page (hands-on) shows the same USD ladder. Bouncer Shield (form verification) has its own monthly ladder on the page, not captured as plans because the static HTML pairing of volumes and prices is ambiguous.

Rate limits

Real-time verify 1,000/min (default, raisable); domain 1,000/min; credits 10/min; batch create 60 batches/min + 200 req/min to other batch endpoints; batch sync 100 req/min (up to 10,000 emails per request); toxicity 10 lists/min.

More on limitsLess

Batch throughput 100-200k emails/hour by default, batch sync 100k/hour, raisable on request. No rate-limit headers are returned (hands-on); 429 when limited.

How to get an API key

Bouncer uses API key. The steps below follow Bouncer's own docs.

  1. Create a Bouncer account. API access starts on the Pay as you go 1,000 plan.
  2. Sign up, open API in the left menu, click Generate API Key
  3. Send it with every request: header x-api-key, or HTTP Basic with the key as password.
  4. Make a first call: Verify one email in real time. Keep the key in an environment variable, never in the command.
    curl -X GET "https://api.usebouncer.com/v1.1/email/verify" \
      -H "x-api-key: $BOUNCER_API_KEY"

Strengths and limits

Where it fits

  • High-volume batch verification with clear published rate limits (100-200k emails/hour default)
  • Agent workflows: official remote MCP at api.usebouncer.com/mcp
  • Recovering credits on stalled batches (finish endpoint refunds unverified emails)

Where it falls short

  • Email finding (verification only in the API)
  • Buying under 1,000 credits (minimum purchase)

Worth knowing

  • Real-time verification gives more 'unknown' results on slow SMTP servers (>40 s); use batch for lists.
  • Keep fewer than ~10 active batches in flight (vendor pseudocode) and respect 60 batch creations/min.
  • Credits endpoint is limited to 10 requests/minute: do not poll it per email.
  • Call /finish on a stuck batch to get credits back for unverified emails.
  • The openapi.yml links in llms.txt return 404; the spec is only embedded page by page.
4 moreShow fewer
  • Minimum purchase is 1,000 credits; pricing is per pack, not per email.
  • Batch sync keeps a 24 h cache; the same email sent after 24 h is verified and charged again.
  • Batches are processed sequentially per account: a 1,000-email batch waits behind a 100,000-email one.
  • Base URL host api.usebouncer.com; paths carry the version. Other hosts: api.usebouncer.com/v1.1 (toxicity endpoints under /v1)

Before you build

Four things to settle first, each read off Bouncer's own pages.

  • Confirm the API is on your planAPI access starts on the Pay as you go 1,000 plan. Free tier: 100 free credits to start.
  • Keep the key out of your codeAPI key. It is sent as: header x-api-key, or HTTP Basic with the key as password.
  • Design around the rate limitReal-time verify 1,000/min (default, raisable); domain 1,000/min; credits 10/min; batch create 60 batches/min + 200 req/min to other batch endpoints; batch sync 100 req/min (up to 10,000 emails per request); toxicity 10 lists/min.
  • Know the catch before you scaleReal-time verification gives more 'unknown' results on slow SMTP servers (>40 s); use batch for lists.
