Which one to pick

Choose Apify if

  • You need data from a specific site, such as LinkedIn, Instagram or Google Maps, and a ready-made Actor already scrapes it.
  • You want to run your own scraper code on hosted servers with proxies, storage and schedules included.
  • You run long or scheduled jobs and want a webhook when each run finishes.
  • You want an AI agent to pay per run with no account, through x402 or MPP.

Choose Firecrawl if

  • You want any URL returned as clean markdown at 1 credit a page, or as LLM-extracted JSON for 4 credits more.
  • You need every URL on a site: map returns up to 100,000 URLs in one call.
  • You want to watch pages for changes with monitors that alert by webhook.
  • You want an agent to search, scrape and parse with no key before you sign up.

If neither fits: If what you need is people or company records with emails, a contact data provider returns them directly, without scraping pages first.

Questions people ask

Can Claude Code scrape LinkedIn?

Claude Code can reach both tools through their official MCP servers. On Apify, LinkedIn data comes from Store Actors built by independent developers, each priced on its own page. On Firecrawl, a LinkedIn profile or company URL is answered by data providers you choose in its settings, at 5 to 40 credits per URL, and a URL no provider has costs nothing.

Are Apify and Firecrawl free?

Both have a free plan with no card. Apify Free gives $5 of platform usage a month and blocks the account once it is used, until the next cycle. Firecrawl Free gives 1,000 credits a month, about 1,000 pages, and returns HTTP 402 once they are used. Neither free plan has pay-as-you-go.

How much does it cost to scrape 1,000 pages?

On Firecrawl it is 1,000 credits for plain pages: about $3.80 on Hobby and $0.99 on Standard at monthly prices, plus 4 credits a page for JSON extraction. On Apify it depends on the Actor: a pay-per-event Actor charges its listed price per result, while a pay-per-usage Actor bills compute at $0.20 per compute unit on Free and Starter. On 25 Oct 2026 a 1-page crawl with Website Content Crawler used $0.00038.

What happens when I run out of credits or usage?

On a paid Apify plan the platform keeps running and the overage goes on your next invoice, up to the usage limit you set. On a paid Firecrawl plan, pay-as-you-go adds credits in $5 steps up to your monthly limit; with it off, requests return HTTP 402. On either free plan, work stops until the next cycle.

Do unused credits roll over?

Apify's prepaid usage expires at the end of each billing cycle. Firecrawl's plan credits reset each month too, except on Scale, which carries them one month, and Enterprise. Firecrawl credits you buy yourself stay until you use them, unless you cancel.

Can an AI agent use them without an account?

Yes, in different ways. An agent with a crypto wallet can pay Apify through x402 or MPP at agi.apify.com and get a temporary token with a spend cap. Firecrawl's keyless mode allows search, scrape and parse with no key, capped per IP address per day.
